This may be the last apple crisp recipe you’ll ever need! We have made this for years for family, friends, and catered events. Everybody always LOVES it!
Between the crumbly, rich crust and topping, the syrupy filling, and tart Granny Smith apples, it really is wonderful medley of flavors! Top this crisp with some vanilla ice cream, and you’ll be set!
What you need
Crust:
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1 and 1/2 cups oats
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups flour
Filling:
- 6-8 cups chopped apples (we use Granny Smith)
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 cups water
- 4 teaspoons vanilla
Directions
Cut the butter into the brown sugar, oats, and flour until ingredients form a crumbly texture.
Divide crust mixture in half. Pat one-half into bottom of 9 X 13 pan. Place chopped apples on top.
Boil sugar, cornstarch, and water until thick and clear. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour hot mixture chopped apples. Sprinkle remaining crust mixture over top of apples.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
