World of Color Dessert Party

This review has been a long time coming, because the World of Color Dessert Party was one of the highlights of our trip to Disneyland Resort last December! Christmas at the parks is already so special, but going to this “extra” was such a neat addition to our vacation! It will always be a favorite memory.

I might as well start out by saying that everyone should do the Dessert Party at least once! I’ll be the first to admit that it’s not the cheapest thing in the world, but the experience is SO FUN!

For those who don’t know, The World of Color is the water and light show held in California Adventure. The show includes music, lights, movie clips, and all the Disney magic you can imagine. It blows me away every time we see it!

You can choose one of four ways to view the show:

  1. show up and hope you can find a spot to stand
  2. get a fast pass with a designated area to stand
  3. purchase a dining package which comes with a special reserved viewing area (also standing)
  4. dessert party (sitting and eating while you watch the show)
HOW THE DESSERT PARTY WORKS

Hint: you want to make reservations ahead of time for this! We were surprised how quickly the slots disappeared!

About an hour prior to the show, you go to the designated dessert party area. You simply give them your name,  you receive a special wristband, and then you’re escorted to your table. The tables are in a great location, just out of reach of any water spray. Some tables are regular height and others are high tops.

After being seated, your server will come to take your drink order. You can choose one alcoholic drink and unlimited “regular” beverages – hot cocoa, coffee, water, etc. You are also provided with a basket of yummy bread and bread sticks! Hint: don’t eat right before you go.

Then the FUN part: the dessert!!! It’s brought out on a fancy tray and presented very formally, which was super fun! Since we were there at Christmas time, our desserts had an adorable holiday theme, as you can see below.

Every single thing was DELICIOUS! I’m a total dessert snob, too, so I don’t say that lightly! The cheese and grapes were a nice addition to counteract some of the sweetness.

I know the picture doesn’t do it justice (taken at night with an old iPhone), but trust me when I say it was just beautiful, and there’s A LOT of it. I LOVE to eat, and even I couldn’t finish it.

Our server came back and checked on us one more time before World of Color started, and then we got to sit, enjoy the show, and eat away. It’s honestly one of my favorite things we’ve ever done at Disneyland and worth every penny!

To be able to watch such a magnificent show with NO CROWDS was such a nice break and made for a relaxing evening! Combining that with tasty desserts and drinks made a magical night at California Adventure.

When the show is over, they even box up your leftover desserts so you can take them back to your hotel hotel with you! Thanks, Disney!
