DIY Room Spray

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that we all like our homes to smell good, which is great! What isn’t so great are the products that are readily available to make that happen! Febreeze sprays, Glade plug ins, etc., are all over the grocery stores, and come in all kinds of fun scents. However, the ingredients that these products contain give us reason for concern.

I researched Febreeze spray on the THINK DIRTY APP, and it ranked at a 9 (10 being the worst) mainly due to its fragrance. Did you know that the term fragrance can be a HUGE combination of all kinds of different chemicals?! Eeeek, no thank you! I also researched Febreeze on EWG (CLICK HERE for article) and it scored an “F” due to concerns in the following areas: Asthma/Respiratory, Skin Allergies & Irritation, Developmental & Reproductive Toxicity, Cancer, and Environment.

It makes me sad that these products are loaded with all kinds of harmful ingredients, and most people using them are probably fully unaware of their harmful ingredients. So now that you do know, you’ll be happy to learn that healthy alternatives are not difficult to come by or expensive. In fact, making your own healthy room sprays is pretty fun! Plus, knowing exactly what is in the products you use around you and your family brings peace of mind.

Ok, let’s get to the recipe! It doesn’t get much easier than this. I love being able to customize whatever scents I want!

What you need:

  • 2 oz glass spray bottle (I got mine HERE)
  • 3 tablespoons distilled water
  • 1/2 teaspoon witch hazel
  • 10 drops essential oil (more or less if you’d like | if you don’t have your oils yet – click HERE)

Use a small funnel to add all ingredients to the spray bottle. Give it a little shake before each use and you’re ready to go!
